Hey i am going to college next year and i am planning on buying a laptop. ?

i will be using the laptop mainly for school related work (i am majoring and mathematics) but i will also be surfing the web, and in particular i would like it to be able to run the new warhammer mmo that's coming out along with the game spore. so i wanted to know if anyone could either recommend a computer that i should buy or supply some computer specs that cater to my needs.Hey i am going to college next year and i am planning on buying a laptop. ?
Get one with a decent graphics card

if you wana be really cool get an nvidia 9800:P but they are costly

id say let it have a dual core processor at 2.3+ GHz at least

and at least 2 gigs of ram

don't buy anything. Check with the school before you buy anything on what their requirements are for next year (which they won't have until the spring). Buying something now will just be outdated by September of next year..../Hey i am going to college next year and i am planning on buying a laptop. ?
As thunder2sys suggested, hold off until you really need the laptop. Hardware changes pretty quickly so buying something closer to when you need it will likely perform better and/or be cheaper than what you could currently purchase.

When you do go to purchase, the video card is the biggest factor for suitability as a gaming laptop. Make sure it is a dedicated gaming level card. Once you find a laptop with that, most of the other features will be sufficiently high enough level.

** Edit **

Without knowing what sort of budget you have, it is hard to specify a laptop that meets your requirements. On a personal note, I recently picked up a Asus Model: G50Vm-X1 from BestBuy (link below). It cost about $1250 (before taxes and service plans) and met my requirement for a dedicated card capable of playing most modern games on a relatively decent setting.
