Is world of warcraft the only MMO with a large player population?

I've been searching all over for an MMO that has a good amount of players. I'm not asking for 10 million but it just seems that every mmorpg I play is lacking in players, like Allods, 4story, Warhammer (hated). I've never played WoW before... maybe i should try it :D?Is world of warcraft the only MMO with a large player population?
warcraft has diffrent servers with varying numbers of people so you not neccisarily stuck with too many people but you also are not alone really its up to your preference on how many people you like playing with
You could play WoW, but there are many others, like RuneScape (which is boring after a while), Starcraft 2, Rappelz, Maplestory, and many others. The reason you're having trouble finding a population is because you're looking at crappy games that are failing. For instance Warhammer is either already free to play, or becoming free to play. That's how poor it's population has become.



I recommend websites that deal specifically in MMOs such as MMORPG.com to help find a game that suits you.



I'm not recommending games because you've listed fantasy genre games, and I hate fantasy. I prefer games like Eve.

A very decent 3D mmorpg. Graphic is very nice. The community is totally amazing and you can barely see anyone using the word "noob". The PvP system is awesome and the good thing about it is you don't have to be a high level to be good at it or even give it a try. The upgrading system is probably the fairest you can find in any game.

I know Dungeons and Dragons Online has a large amount, though its not FULLY free to play.



Though, unlike the larger majority of 3D MMORPGs, it's not a dull Point and click style, its game play is almost identical to WoW from what I've heard.

There's Starcraft II also from Blizzard (people who make WoW). Eh...WoW is nearing it's next expansion (Cataclysm), so...you can try it, but it's not that fun right now, imo....near-expansion blues are everywhere.
EVE Online has... well, enough usually ~10 to 20k at any given time.

Lord of the Rings Online has a large player base but I don't know any numbers.
Yes, its a huge online game! never a shortage of ppl to play with. Try it, it's very addicting!
Battle of the immortals has many players. Also so does Atlantica online. They are both free hope i helped.
